At R1N.ai, we believe your conversations should remain private and secure. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we collect, use, and safeguard your data.

Your conversations are yours. Period.

Information We Collect

To provide our voice AI service, we collect:

• Account Information: Email address and any name you choose to provide during signup
• Conversation Data: The text of your conversations with R1N, transcribed from your voice and stored encrypted so your host can remember them. We do not store recordings of your voice: audio is streamed to our speech-to-text provider to be transcribed and is not kept by us. Conversation data is processed only by the service providers listed below that run R1N.ai
• Usage Data: Technical information such as session duration, feature usage, and error logs to help us improve service quality

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide the Service: Enable voice conversations with your AI companion
• Remember Conversations: Power our memory feature so R1N can recall past discussions and provide continuity across sessions
• Improve Quality: Enhance audio quality, reduce latency, and optimize the user experience

Data Security

We take security seriously and implement multiple layers of protection:

• Encryption: Your conversations are encrypted in transit, and stored conversation text is encrypted with a key unique to your account
• Secure Infrastructure: We use industry-standard cloud providers with robust security practices
• Access Controls: Strict limits on who can access user data

Your Rights

You have full control over your data. You can:

• Request Deletion: Ask us to permanently delete your account and all associated conversation data
• Get a Copy of Your Data: Ask us for a copy of your stored conversation history
• Update Information: Modify or correct your account details at any time

Data Retention

We retain your conversation data for as long as your account is active to provide the memory feature. If you delete your account, all conversation data is permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.

Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for analytical purposes, but cannot be linked back to you.

Flagged safety excerpts (see Safety Monitoring below) are kept for 90 days and then deleted automatically.

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services to operate R1N.ai, including:

• Cloud hosting providers for infrastructure
• AI model providers for voice processing
• Didit, for age verification at signup
• TypeSafe, for automated safety checks of conversation text
• Analytics services for usage monitoring

These providers are bound by strict data processing agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.

Safety Monitoring

To comply with safety laws for AI companion apps, including California's SB 243, each message you say (after it is turned into text) and each reply from your host is checked automatically, as the conversation happens, for a few specific issues: suicide, self-harm, and eating disorders; signs that a user is under 18; roleplay involving minors; threats to hurt real people; and requests for professional medical, legal, or therapy advice. No person listens in.

• The check is done by TypeSafe, which receives the text of the last few lines of the conversation for each check.
• When something is flagged, only the few lines around that moment are saved, encrypted, so our team can review it. These excerpts are deleted automatically after 90 days.
• We record that a safety event happened (its type, the time, and the action taken) without its text. We count crisis referrals, with no personal details, for a yearly report to California's Office of Suicide Prevention.

Age Verification

R1N.ai is for adults only, so we verify the age of every new account. When you sign up, we ask for a short selfie video, which our verification partner, Didit, uses to estimate your age. If the estimate is close to 18, Didit also asks for a photo of a government-issued ID.

The selfie check uses biometric data (the geometry of your face). We ask for your consent before it starts, and Didit uses this data only to check your age and to prevent duplicate accounts, as described below.

• We never receive or store your selfie, video, or ID images. Didit processes them on our behalf.
• We keep only the result (18 or older: yes or no), the date of the check, the method used, and a reference number for the check.
• To stop one person from opening several accounts, Didit keeps a face template: a set of numbers describing your face, not a photo. New sign-ups are compared against it. It is deleted one year after your check, or sooner if you ask us to delete your account.
• We ask Didit to delete your selfie, video, and any ID images as soon as the check is finished. If a check needs a manual review, they are deleted after the review, and they are never kept longer than 30 days.
• If we can't confirm that you are 18 or older, your account is blocked. If you believe this is a mistake, email [email protected].

Children's Privacy

R1N.ai is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will delete it immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you via email or through the service. Your continued use of R1N.ai after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
